Sellers and Buyers did you know agents must thoroughly discuss the agency relationship they represent with you and clarify client and customer roles according to the NY Real Estate Salesperson manual written by Marcia Darvin Spada?
You the public are entitled to be aware of the relationship between you and your agent/Broker. The Broker/Agent is responsible for explaining their role in your transaction to you. On page 87 of the NY Real Estate Salesperson manual you can read and understand the relationship you are creating. The relationship can be implied, in writing or verbal. In writing you complete the NYS Agency Disclosure form which should be presented to you at the first substantive Meeting. This can be a conversation online or when you first meet. Signing the form does not obligate you contractually. It is just an understanding of representation and has no financial obligation attached.
